HYGGE: technology that warms the soul. Ten-year anniversary of TEDxPADOVA kicks off with the Salon event in partnership with Nice
12 March 2023
Searching for happiness in the ordinary, enjoying simplicity and quality time to fill up with positive energy: with this spirit, on Saturday, February 25th, TheNicePlace re-opened its doors to TEDxPadovaSalon, the event that kicked off the celebration of the ten-year anniversary of TEDxPadova.
The theme of this new edition, of which Nice was Platinum Partner, was the word "HYGGE": a noun in the Danish language used to define a feeling, a social atmosphere, a sense of comfort, security, welcome and familiarity, a way of life, thanks also to the help of new technologies.
"This is an important year for us, we want to enjoy the moment and the journey we have made in these 10 years," commented Carlo Pasqualetto, Licensee of TEDxPadova. "Hence the choice of the HYGGE theme, to spend quality time together, in a human scale atmosphere, that at the same time fits our contemporaneity: a special atmosphere we will find in the fantastic location that will welcome us, TheNicePlace in Nice, a valuable partner with whom we are happy to collaborate again."
Here are the 5 speakers who inspired the audience, telling their vision of HYGGE:
Eleonora Losiouk: Researcher at the Department of Mathematics, University of Padua. She works on the security of the Android operating system and mobile devices. In 2017, she visited the EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland, and in 2021 the International Computer Science Institute in Berkeley, California, USA. Finally, in 2022 she received the Google Research Scholar Program award for her research on Android.
Luca Mazzuccato: He studies Economics at the University of Padua and is a big motorsport fan. In 2021, he joined UNIPD's Formula Student project, the Race UP Team, a young and dynamic environment that allowed him to develop team-working and problem-solving skills. He loves playing all sports, especially basketball, which he has been practicing for more than 15 years.
Patrizia Burato: an architect for almost 35 years, she has designed 600-room hotels, train stations, airports, and housing buildings. She was head of a well-known Milan-based design firm, marketing manager of a major construction company, consultant of a painting company. Finally, she chose freelancing. Author of a book ("Rifaccio casa, rifaccio vita," ed. Sonzogno) and with about 23 projects a year, today she is mainly involved in construction and renovations for private clients.
Giovanna Giacomini: she works in the field of education. Founder of Educatori WOW and creator of the new pedagogical approach Scuole Felici (Happy Schools), she is the only Italian exponent who, inspired by the "Danish method," applies it to the 0-6 age group.
Special Guest: GATE ITALY. Special guest was the team from Gate Italy, who represented Italy at the World Robotics Competition in Rio de Janeiro with Astrogate. Astrogate is a team made up of ten boys between the ages of 9 and 16 who gained access to the very final of the FIRST® LEGO® League. The team, entirely "made in Veneto," won access to the final by beating almost one hundred and ten teams from all over the world.
